The Tommy Vitale Memorial Foundation

On May 6, 2004, The Tommy Vitale Memorial Foundation was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization in New Jersey. We anticipate 501(c)(3) status sometime in 2007.  In the future, we will be striving to keep Tommy's memory alive by awarding scholarships to high school students who are Union County residents who are planning to attend, who demonstrate a dedication to work, compassion for those willing to help themselves, and a strong desire to succeed.

We are also very proud to announce that we have made an arrangement with the Foster and Adoptive Family Services division of DYFS to set up an opportunity grant in Tommy's name for young adults in their Aging Out program who are basically "aging out" of the foster care system.  This grant will help pay for education expenses, first apartment expenses, clothing for their first job interview, etc.  and will be awarded each May.  We will also be donating to another FAFS program called Fostering Wishes, which benefits foster children throughout the state by awarding mini-grants of $75 to each selected applicant to help pay for extra-curricular activities.  Our donation will be specifically for children in Union and Somerset counties.  For more information on either of these programs, or for information about becoming a foster or adoptive parent, please go to their website: www.fafsonline.org or call (609) 520-1500.
